The vitreous body supports the internal parts of the eye and helps maintain the eye’s shape. Photoreceptors are modified neurons of two distinct kinds, as Figure 7 illustrates. One group of photoreceptors, called rods , have long, thin projections at their ends, and provide vision without color, in shades of gray.
