They come up with lists of names that are alphabetical in order and start with a female name then a male name and continue alternating in this way.
What is the meaning behind the hurricane names?The first hurricanes were named after patron saints on whose feast days the storms occurred. In 1950, a formal practice for storm naming was developed by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
