How dangerous is abdominal aortic aneurysm?
Aneurysms can occur in any area of the aorta, but the abdomen is the most common site (figure 1). Intact abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) generally cause no health problems. However, large AAAs can burst, or rupture, and cause heavy bleeding into the abdomen.
